Word through Jeremiah to the exiled Israelites in Babylon was this: “Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper” (Jeremiah 29:7). In praying for “everyone,” the church can know that it is doing what “is good and pleases God our Savior.” As the Savior-God, he “wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” We have a compelling reason to pray for all people.
